Easter Weekend

We had a great Easter Weekend. Khara rates it as one of her favorite holidays. :-) Aaron and Brenda were able to come down. Having extra family around always makes it even more special.

Karson turned one month old Saturday (can't hardly believe that) and so Brenda very graciously brought her equipment with her and did a photo shoot of him. Very anxiously waiting to get those proofs back!!

On Saturday morning we went to the local Easter egg hunt.
Kaden was in the 0-2 age group category. These little "hunters" were not very aggressive. It took them probably 20 minutes to get all the candy in their area picked us vs. less than 5 min. for Khara's age group, the 7-9 year olds.

Brenda went with Kelsey in her age group.

The three hunters with a little brother who never even got to peek out from under his blankets. :-) Easter weekend was pretty chilly this year.

Our Saturday evening tradition--dyeing eggs!!

Easter morning trying to snap a quick picture before heading out the door. It gets just a little harder to get a good group shot with each new addition.

On to the 2nd Easter egg hunt after the service at our church. The benefit of a country church with a Big yard to hide the candy in. One drawback, a neighbor dog joined the hunt and downed who knows how much of the wonderful chocolate. Couldn't say much to/about the dog. The family that owned him was visiting our church that Sunday. :-) (Oh, the dog happened to be named Hershey....hmmm)

Kelsey proudly displaying the dessert my mom made for our Sunday dinner. Delicious!!!

Kelsey beating up on Aaron~ Again!

Trying for one more picture after church. Kelsey with candy in her mouth, Kaden with it in hand.

One of the other things we did on Saturday was to go to a Home and Leisure show. One of the booths had a jar of jelly beans for the kids to guess how many were in it. They called yesterday and said that Khara was the winner with her guess of 303. There were actually 340 in the jar. Happy Girl !! :-)

Random Pics. From Our Week

Thanks for your comments and concern on my last post, we are having a much better week!! Khara and Kelsey are out of school for Spring Break and I think everyone is well!! I feel like I haven't been able to say that for a looong time. Here's a little of what we have been doing:

Last week a lady called me and asked if I would like some books. Her 2 girls are getting older and didn't want them anymore. She said she probably had 100. Did we want them?? We were thrilled!! This is what she gave us:
There ended up being almost 200 books and a lot of them were chapter books which made Khara very happy. :-) What a blessing!!!

At 3 weeks old Kelsey thought maybe Karson would like to look at a book, too. He looks like he is taking it all in. :-) Oh, and how do you like his hair-do?? ;-)

One of the best babysitters out there!!

Karson's gift from UPS came this week. Kelsey has a pink blanket like this, Kaden a blue one, and now they have switched to yellow. Mark started working there right after Khara was born.

One of our activities this week. We made salt clay, rolled/cut out shapes, baked them, colored them, and then hung them to make mobiles.

"WHAT A WEEK"

It's amazing how fast things can change!! If I had known what this week would bring, I would have been more than glad to just skip it.

A couple hours after my Monday eve. post with the wishes for a "happy, healthy week", I found my self in the emergency room with some serious post child birth complications. Due to this being a "co-ed" blog, I won't go in to all the details but, I got to see some nurses and Doc's work very fast!! Mark was left in the emergency room waiting room for almost an hour before they would even let him come back to where I was. Of course we took Karson with us and he did so well all night as we were in the E.R. with them trying to get me stabilized. My blood pressure kept dropping very low (80's /50's) and my heart would race. The fluids were being pushed pretty fast into my system. At about 5 a.m. they were able to get me up to a room. I went for surgery at 8:30 a.m. the next morning and was expected to be gone a couple of hours. Again, Mark was left to try to keep Karson happy. I got back to the room 4 hours later. I came home Tues. night and have been getting stronger ever since, thankfully!!

It has been quite a week but I still have so much to be thankful for:

An O.B. nurse told me I need to come to the hospital--NOW!! I thought maybe I could wait and just go the next morning. I realize now I probably wouldn't have made it through the night.

My mother quickly stepped in and has helped me tremendously. I haven't cooked a meal, done laundry, or washed a dish all week. I couldn't have made it without her!!

A very caring and understanding husband and children. I'm around, but just can't do much.

~~~
On top of all that, Khara and Kaden have been sick all week, fevers, coughs, colds. Khara went to school on Monday and didn't go back the rest of the week. She even had to miss her Easter party. :-( (Needless to say I had to pass those party responsibilities off as well.) A trip to the doctor today, 5 prescriptions later, I think they are on the mend as well.
Well, here's to a much BETTER WEEK!!!
Happy Monday!!
Wow, time flies when you're havin' fun, It's been almost 2 weeks since my last post. For some reason laundry, dishes, toys on the floor, etc., or taking a little bit more of my time now.(not to mention a very precious newborn :-). We have had a great couple of weeks with Karson doing lots of "firsts".
On Thursday, Karson & I went to the Christian School P.T. O. meeting. I am the parent rep. for Kelsey's kindergarten class.
At the end of the meeting they brought out this basket full of gifts for us: diapers, wipes, Baby soap, picture frame, couple of blankets, socks, package of onesies, etc. I was VERY surprised. People are so kind!!
This was the same evening my good friend, Jane, brought us a delicious supper of cashew chicken, stir-fry veggies, and oreo icecream. A very, very kind thing to do!! :-)
On Saturday we made our first trip to the mall as a family of 6. (We live 65 miles from the nearest one, so this was quite the outing.) 30 minutes into the trip we realized we had forgotten the stroller--- OH NO!! Mark very graciously carried a 10 lb. little boy in his 10lb(??) car seat for 3 hours while we strolled the corridors. The playland was a welcome sight.
And being in Springfield, with fishing season right around the corner, we had to make a stop at Bass Pro (another 3 hours :-). Mark is now ready to hit the lake, as is the boat.
Another full week is in store before the girls start Spring Break next week. Kelsey has an Easter program at school. Then for some reason, it happened to fall in my lot that I am room mother for both of the girls Easter Parties. Kelsey's is on Thursday, Khara's is Friday.
Khara came home from school today saying that by the end of the day, there were only 11 well children out of 19 left in her class. Fevers, tonsillitis, pink eye,... Here's hoping and praying we have a healthy, happy, week and then a great Spring Break.
